Adelaide High School

Adelaide High School is located west of the city center in close proximity to the University, the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute, the State Library, the Art Gallery and the Museum. Due to its central location, it is easily accessible by public transport.

Adelaide High School ‘s STEM program integrates learning in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Knowledge and skills are enhanced in collaboration with universities and other local educational organizations. A a high percentage of its students study Science and Maths in the senior years and go on to pursue STEM pathways at a tertiary level.

In the field of robotics, the school offers a wide range of opportunities, including programming, design and problem solving. For example, Arduinos, a platform for electronics and microcontroller projects, are also used across the middle and senior years as part of the Digital Technology subject. In addition, students can further develop their passion in the Robotics Club and take part in robotics competitions.

In 2020, a New Performing Arts Centre was opened. Drama, dance, music and art work together in a fantastic collaborative space. Performing Arts also include musicals, dance performances, theater productions and music nights.

In sport, Adelaide High School offers a dedicated rowing program and a dedicated cricket program. The school has a boathouse on the banks of the River Torrens for its extensive fleet of boats for all classes, where the rowing teams also train. The school also shares a rowing facility with two other high schools in the West Lakes district. The rowers learn boat handling and rowing in both scull and sweep boats and improve their general fitness. Students of all ages actively train and represent Adelaide High School at rowing regattas, culminating in the annual historic Head of the River regatta.

Adelaide High School gives all students the opportunity to learn or develop their cricket skills. Teaching and coaching focus on cricket skills such as batting, bowling and fielding, with fitness and conditioning also important aspects of the program. Students have access to accredited coaches as well as grass, indoor and outdoor playing and training facilities. The cricket program is open to students who have a passion for cricket.
